10 Curses on America - More to come?

10 Previous Times America Faced Major Disaster After Attempting To Divide Israel

Prophecy News Watch Dec. 27

Because Barack Obama has cursed Israel at the United Nations, America is now under a curse. Friday's stunning betrayal of Israel at the UN Security Council is making headlines all over the planet, but the truth is that what Obama has just done is far more serious than most people would dare to imagine.

Over the past several decades, whenever the U.S. government has taken a major step toward the division of the land of Israel it has resulted in a major disaster hitting the United States.

This keeps happening over and over again, and yet our leaders never seem to learn. And despite the fact that President-elect Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and prominent members of both parties in Congress strongly urged Obama to veto Security Council resolution 2334, he went ahead and let it pass anyway.

Security Council

Because the United States has veto power on the UN Security Council, nothing can get passed without our support. And it has been the policy of the U.S. government for decades to veto all anti-Israel resolutions that come before the Security Council.

But this time around, it appears that the Obama administration was working very hard behind the scenes to get this resolution pushed through the Security Council before the end of Obama's term. At least that is what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is claiming...

"From the information that we have, we have no doubt that the Obama administration initiated it, stood behind it, coordinated on the wording and demanded that it be passed," Netanyahu said in a statement. "This is, of course, in complete contradiction of the traditional American policy that was committed to not trying to dictate terms for a permanent agreement, like any issue related to them in the Security Council, and, of course, the explicit commitment of President Obama himself, in 2011, to refrain from such steps."

I am sure that there will be a tremendous amount of debate about to what extent the U.S. was involved in creating and drafting this resolution, but there is one thing that is exceedingly clear.

The ultimate decision as to whether or not this resolution would be adopted was in the hands of one man. Barack Obama knew very well that he had this power, and in the end he ultimately decided to betray Israel.

And now that our government has cursed Israel at the UN, our entire nation will be cursed as a result.

In the Scriptures we are repeatedly told that God will bless those that bless Israel and will curse those that curse Israel.

When Barack Obama blocked a similar resolution that France wanted to submit for a vote in September 2015, it resulted in America being blessed, and we definitely have been blessed over the past 16 months.

But now that Barack Obama has reversed course and has betrayed Israel, we will most assuredly be cursed. In the days ahead we will see how this plays out, and perhaps we can get some hints about what may happen by reviewing recent history.

There have literally been dozens of instances in recent decades when the U.S. has been hit by some sort of immediate disaster when it has made a move toward the dividing of the land of Israel.

The following are ten of the most prominent examples that stand out to me...

#1 The last time the U.S. government refused to veto an anti-Israel resolution at the UN Security Council was in 1979. On March 22nd, 1979 the Carter administration chose not to veto UN Resolution 446.

Four days after that on March 26th, the Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty was signed in Washington. As a result of that treaty, Israel gave up a tremendous amount of territory. Two days later, on March 28th, the worst nuclear power plant disaster in U.S. history made headlines all over the globe. The following comes from Wikipedia...

The Three Mile Island accident was a partial nuclear meltdown that occurred on March 28, 1979, in reactor number 2 of Three Mile Island Nuclear Generating Station (TMI-2) in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, United States. It was the most significant accident in U.S. commercial nuclear power plant history.[2] The incident was rated a five on the seven-point International Nuclear Event Scale: Accident With Wider Consequences.[3][4]

#2 On October 30th, 1991 President George H. W. Bush opened the Madrid Peace Conference which brought Israelis and Palestinians together to negotiate for the very first time.

In his opening speech, Bush told Israel that "territorial compromise is essential for peace". At the exact same time, "the Perfect Storm" was brewing in the north Atlantic.

This legendary storm traveled 1000 miles the wrong direction and sent 35 foot waves slamming directly into President Bush's home in Kennebunkport, Maine.

#3 On August 23rd, 1992 the Madrid Peace Conference moved to Washington D.C., and the very next day Hurricane Andrew made landfall in Florida causing 30 billion dollars in damage. It was the worst natural disaster up to that time in U.S. history.

#4 On January 16th, 1994 President Clinton met with President Assad of Syria to discuss the possibility of Israel giving up the Golan Heights. Within 24 hours, the devastating Northridge earthquake hit southern California. It was the second worst natural disaster up to that time in U.S. history.

#5 On January 21st, 1998 Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived at the White House but received a very cold reception. In fact, President Clinton and Secretary of State Madeleine Albright actually refused to have lunch with him. That exact same day the Monica Lewinsky scandal broke, sending the Clinton presidency into a tailspin from which it would never recover.

#6 On September 28th, 1998 Secretary of State Madeleine Albright was working on finalizing a plan which would have had Israel give up approximately 13 percent of Judea and Samaria. On that precise day, Hurricane George slammed into the Gulf Coast with wind gusts of up to 175 miles an hour.

  DVD

#7 On May 3rd, 1999 Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat was supposed to hold a press conference to declare the creation of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as the capital.

On that precise day, the most powerful tornadoes ever recorded in the U.S. ripped through Oklahoma and Kansas. At one point one of the tornadoes actually had a recorded wind speed of 316 miles an hour.

#8 On April 30th, 2003, "the Road Map to Peace" that had been developed by the so-called "Quartet" was presented to Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon by U.S. Ambassador Daniel Kurtzer.

Over the next seven days, the U.S. was hit by a staggering 412 tornadoes. It was the largest tornado cluster ever recorded up to that time.

#9 In 2005, President George W. Bush (the son of George H. W. Bush) convinced Israel that it was necessary to remove all of the Jewish settlers out of Gaza and turn it over entirely to the Palestinians.

 Israel

According to the New York Times, the very last of the settlers were evacuated on August 23, 2005. On that precise day, a storm that would be given the name "Katrina" started forming over the Bahamas.

The city of New Orleans still has not fully recovered from the damage that storm caused, and it ranked as the costliest natural disaster in all of U.S. history up to that time.

#10 On May 19th, 2011 Barack Obama told Israel that there must be a return to the pre-1967 borders. Three days later on May 22nd a half-mile wide EF-5 multiple-vortex tornado ripped through Joplin, Missouri. According to Wikipedia, it was "the costliest single tornado in U.S. history."

The UN Security Council resolution that was passed on Friday is the biggest betrayal of Israel in modern history. As I explained in my last article, I believe that America's reprieve is now over and all hell is about to break loose in this country.

When Barack Obama blocked the UN Security Council from dividing the land of Israel in September 2015, according to the Word of God we should have been blessed as a nation as a result, and we were blessed.

UN

But now Barack Obama has cursed Israel by stabbing them in the back at the United Nations, and according to the Word of God we should be cursed as a nation as a result.

And as surely as I am writing this article, we will be cursed.

John McTernan

First IBT Youth to hear the call for Christian Service

(Publishers Remarks: During the forty-one year ministry of Dr. and Mrs. Greg J. Dixon at the Indianapolis Baptist Temple approximately 170 young men left for Christian service as Pastors, Missionaries, Evangelists and Christian Education.  However, little has been said of the scores, maybe well over one-hundred Christian young ladies who left to serve the Lord in their reserve role as wives for these young men or others as they carried out their divine call for God and were instrumental in the success of their ministry.  We are convinced that the example of Mrs. Dixon and many other godly Sunday school teachers and Christian ladies at IBT aided in the development of these young ladies besides their parents.  If we receive the cooperation from them, we plan to spotlight the story of their lives in future Trumpets.  This Trumpet features the life of the first person to leave out for full time Christian service from the church.  Sarafaye Denham Griswold.  May we pray that God will continue to raise up godly women to fill the ranks of Christian service.)Dehnam Family

I'm a fun-loving gal from the Heartland of America!  Indianapolis is my home town. I was born into a Christian family and am the youngest of four children.  I was born on Easter Sunday, April 17, 1938.  My mother was 38 years of age and my daddy was 60. I think I was their surprise package.  My mother told me that when she found out that she was expecting me, my father was quite upset.  He was concerned what people would think of him at age 60 and fathering another child.  He walked up the street to talk to my mother's close friend who was a godly woman and he told her how he felt.  She told him, “Now Jim...God is giving you this baby for a special reason.  He has a purpose in this.”

My childhood days were happy days growing up in the 1940's and '50's. So very different from the way children are raised today.  I was taken to church at a very early age.  We lived on the south side of Indianapolis and went to Edgewood Methodist Church and later went to Edgewood Nazarene.  How well I remember the little red chairs in the classrooms and the Bible story cards we received each week.  Going to church on Sunday was the highlight of my week!  It always has been, for which I am grateful.

I had been taught about Jesus all my life and the only way to heaven was through accepting Him as my Savior.  I did this very thing when I was about twelve years old.  I had gone to a revival meeting in a small mission church and it was there that God spoke to my heart of my need of a Savior.  That was a decision I have never regretted.  At this time in my life we attended an inter-denominational church for several years.  We didn't have a car so we always had to depend on someone to give us a ride.

It was in 1952 or 1953 that we were invited by a friend of my mothers to attend a new church that was just being organized.  The Indianapolis Baptist Temple.  When we attended the first time, the church was meeting in a small storeOldIBT building on Madison Avenue and the pastor was Rev. George Young.  Amazing as it was, we felt “at home” right away and that is where we stayed.  It was “our church” and was for many years hence.  I was a freshman or sophomore in high school at the time.  When Pastor Young left the pastorate, the church called a new pastor and we fell in love with he and his wife immediately. That pastor was Greg Dixon and his beautiful wife, Wanda.  His teaching and preaching made a tremendous impact on my life.

Summertime of 1954, I had just turned 16.  Our Youth Department went to Youth Camp  along with the pastor and his wife at St Mary's, Ohio.  It was during that week that I felt God leading me towards full-time service.  I remember well going forward at the close of the service and Mary Schott praying with me about my decision.  She and her husband, Richard were on deputation at the time to go as missionaries to the Philippines.  Two years later in the fall of 1956, my pastor's wife, Wanda Dixon, took me to Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri where I enrolled for my first year.

My first year at college was short lived.  My father died and I went home to be with my mother. I then went to work for an insurance company to help out financially but not giving up my dream of returning to Springfield, MO to college.  I did return in the Fall of 1957.  It was a wonderful year.  Many learning experiences, many friends and lots of fun.

I met the love of my life at BBC.  Leaon Griswold.  A handsome  Okie from Chickasha, Oklahoma.  He was taking the Pastor's course.  We were married in 1958 after his graduation in May from BBC.  At his graduation, we had no idea of where we would be going to live or work, but God knew all about that.  He met a young pastor who wanted someone to come work with him in Grand Rapids, Michigan at a fairly new church.  The man's name was Walter Eldridge. We accepted the position with no promise of a salary, but the church would pay our house rent and gas expense.  Leaon was a jack of all trades....leadingBBC singing, working with youth, hours spent in visitation.  We were there for 3 years.

We left in 1961 and were blessed to go to our first pastorate.  A brand new work with 28 charter members.  Hillcrest Bible Baptist Church in Arkansas City, Kansas.  God blessed the work there.  The church grew, people accepted Christ, and we loved it.    God used us to build two lovely buildings there.  We think back now and that was our “first love”. Our three daughters were all born during our years there.  We left after eight years and then......

God led us to West Erwin Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas.  We served the Lord there with the sweetest bunch of people for six and one-half years.  A wonderful time of ministry there.  We also had the last addition to our family while in Tyler....a baby boy.  We left Tyler in 1975 and my husband accepted the pastorate of Park Hill Baptist Church in Pueblo, Colorado.  We served there for 22 beautiful years until we felt it was time that the church needed new leadership and that God was leading us in a different direction.

Looking back over 58 years of marriage and ministry, I would not change a thing.  I loved being a pastor's wife to the congregations that God had called us to.  The countless opportunities of loving people and sharing the gospel.  The mission trips to Japan and the Philippines opened my eyes to the need of Christ in the countries around the world.  I have been blessed beyond words to have experienced all of this.

We finally moved in 2000 to the beautiful State of Tennessee.  We live just south of Nashville in the quaint, old southern town of Columbia. We are still involved in ministry.  Since moving here my husband worked for about 4 years with Care Ministries, speaks when he has  opportunities and presently in the summertime, God has given us a job to serve as camp hosts at a national forest campground in Colorado for the past five years.  I cannot count the many times God has opened the doors for us to share with others the good news of God's amazing grace.  We feel humbled... but honored that the Lord chose us to be His servants.

Why Was The Rainbow Chosen as the Symbol of Sodomy

Gay Rainbow

By Dr. Greg J. Dixon

Symbols are important.  Usually an institution chooses a symbol that presents the institution in the best possible light to reflect it as the epitome of integrity and greatness.  Often times when you think of great business corporations, Universities or Institutions, you think of the symbol or logos even before their name is mentioned.  As an example, Prudential Insurance brings to mind “The Rock”, no matter the change of design, who can question that it is a Chevrolet with that Bowtie?  And who could ever pass off America’s team when they see the famous Dallas Cowboy’s Star?   Or do we have to ask who the Elephant or Donkey stands for?

Obviously that someone who first used the rainbow as the symbol for the “Gay” community and later for the entire LGBT (lesbian, “gay”, bisexual, trans-gender) community, with one stroke, created the greatest single marketing maneuver that nearly eclipses any of the other symbols defining a particular product, but in this instance, we are talking about changing societies attitudes about a life-style from one of total disgust to one of near complete acceptance and even embracement.

You would think that one of the best advertising firms in the nation must have been paid a handsome sum to develop such a marketing plan as this.  Who could have thought of the idea of the rainbow and the word “Gay” to represent this despicable homosexual crowd.  Wow!  What a plan.  It had to be hatched from the very halls of hell itself.

Gay Pride

Interestingly, the rainbow symbol and flag was developed by individuals out of their love for the “Gay” movement, but no doubt Satanically inspired.   We won’t even mention their names, but the flag was finally standardized on Feb. 10, 2003 at the Paramount Flag Co., and is now unfortunately recognized as the official LGBT flag by the International Congress of Flag Makers.  As symbols go, you might know that each of the colors represent something dear to these perverts, and lest someone take exception to my using this term.  How did the bisexuals get into the picture?  Were they also born this way?  When our “fine” Congressmen in Washington, D.C., wrote the new anti-discrimination law to include “sexual orientation”, who was the wise guy that came up with “bisexuality” being equal to race and religion?  And which day are they to be discriminated against, the day they decide to be with a woman or the day they decide to be with a man?  And if they can’t figure out who or what they are, how on earth is the law or a private citizen to figure it out?  Sorry folks, back to the “rag flag.”  What do these colors mean?  They are code for the following.

· hot pink for sex

· red for life,

· orange for healing,

· yellow for sun,

· green for serenity with nature,

· turquoise for art,

· indigo for harmony, and

· violet for spirit

Obviously the other plan that the homosexuals were using wasn’t working.  We were on to them.  Remember that statement that Conservatives circulated all over the globe that Michael Swift, a homosexual writer had written in a column in 1987, that he covered himself by claiming that it was a satirical polemic:

We shall sodomize your sons, emblems of your feeble masculinity, of your shallow dreams and vulgar lies. We shall seduce them in your schools, in your dormitories, in your gymnasiums, in your locker rooms, in your sports arenas, in your seminaries, in your youth groups, in your movie theater bathrooms, in your army bunkhouses, in your truck stops, in your all male clubs, in your houses of Congress, wherever men are with men together. Your sons shall become our minions and do our bidding. They will be recast in our image. They will come to crave and adore us.”

PromiseOfGod

But now comes the change of image since the rainbow has appeared as the official symbol of the homosexual and LGBT community.  It appears on everything wherever they meet, on flags, clothing, doors, etc.

The word “gay” first appeared in the thirties and referred to the bright clothing that men, dressing in women’s attire, were wearing.  From there it was easy to imply the lifestyle was “happy, fun, exciting, hence – gay, therefore, the homosexuals were no longer queers, fags, faggots, they were “Gays.”  Once the media in mass bought into this idea and equated “Gay” with their own symbol, the Rainbow, the fix was in, and now that the LGBT’s have been chiseled into our laws and made right by might, their vile activity is good, because god government declares it to be good and will punish anyone who disagrees.

But the Rainbow according to the book of Genesis is the very signature of God, and when they use it as their symbol, they place the signature of God over the entire homosexual scene.  That signature is the greatest signature in the Universe.  Throughout scripture the Rainbow represents the glory of God.  It represents the veracity of God as a Covenant God.  As a God of beauty, holiness, radiance, and mercy, but also as a God of judgment.

Every time we see the Rainbow, it says to all mankind, that there was a time in the past, that the whole earth was so sinful that God had to destroy it with a world, wide flood.  It also declares that God in His mercy did not destroy all of mankind but saved Noah and his family.  It is also a symbol that God made a Covenant between Himself and the entire human race, that He would never destroy the entire earth with a world, wide flood again.

But these wicked sodomites have hijacked the most beautiful symbol in the Universe, other than the cross of Christ, a symbol that belongs to the entire human race and have wrapped their vile sin in it, and they have said that their abominable fornication is not evil, that it is beautiful, that their methods of pleasure is not unnatural, it is gay, men and women burning in their lust one toward the other is not ungodly, but rather God’s ordained plan for women.  This is the height of pride.  This is why they have “Gay” pride day, and “Gay” pride parades.  It is the same spirit that caused Satan to exalt himself above the throne of God.  He said, “I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.” (Isa 14:14).  Satan wanted to be higher than God, not equal.  The civil rights laws have made lesbians, “gays”, bisexual, and trans-gender people equal to heterosexuals, those of other races and religions.  However, by taking the rainbow symbol, they have exalted themselves above all other groups on earth.

God said to Adam, But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.  But Satan said to Eve in his subtlety, Ye shall not surely die.  In other words, go ahead and do exactly the opposite of what God said, and you will not die.  Satan has said the same thing to the homosexuals, go ahead, do wickedly, “you won’t die.  According to the Center of Disease Control, the homosexual’s life span is twenty years less than the average person.  And this is after millions has been spent on AIDS research.  If that had not been done by our government the figure no doubt would be far greater.

But the homosexuals have said to society, don’t judge us, we are above judgment and then they have draped their wicked lifestyle in the rainbow flag and painted the most beautiful symbol known to man, except the Cross of Christ, standing as a love Covenant from God to the entire human race declaring, “NO JUDGMENT” by flood, so that when the rains come, even though the flood may be bad we will know that the waters will recede.  But this vile crowd is saying to the whole world, see, God loves us, and we will not be judged for our beautiful life.  Yes, they will be judged.  They are already being judged and they will be judged.

To the lesbian, and the Trans, who decides that he or she wants to be a woman or a man, just because they “feel” like it, God’s word says, But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth   I Tim 5:6.  And be assured,

The homosexual is included in the blanket warning of Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

I have been asked if I believe that the Orlando massacre is God’s judgment on “Gays?”  I do not, I believe that it is the work of Satan.  The Devil is the “god of this world.”  (2 Cor. 4:4).  Satan is an “angel of light.”  The LGBT cause has received more sympathy and good will from the general public through this tragedy than they ever would have if it had not happened.  If anyone said a disparaging word publicly against “Gays” during this time of mourning they would be mobbed.  If they were a public figure their career would no doubt be finished for good.  The fact that many of the dead and living have been made hero’s and many are now bigger than life to their friends, family and community, homosexuality will spread like never before.  Many will now have the courage to come out of the closet that would have never revealed their wicked lifestyle.  God would have known better than to have been the author of such a plan as this.

OrlandoKiller

But my friends there will be a day that God will judge the quick and the dead.  Some who have not “overcome” will be judged at the Judgment Seat of Christ (1 Cr 3:11-17; 2:5:10; John 15:1-6).  But thankfully; 1Jn 1:9   If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

All who have rejected the Lord Jesus Christ and the price that He paid for their sins on the Cross of Calvary will pay for their own sins in the Lake of fire forever and ever and ever.  But thank God, all men can be save by receiving the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior.

Joh 3:16   For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Will the churches in America be destroyed through regulation and taxation?

Dr. Greg J. Dixon

The first controversy that arose in the earlyEarly Church days of the fledgling church had to do with an issue of discrimination. The church was primarily a Jewish church but comprised of two kinds of Jews, Hebrew Jews, who could speak Hebrew and Grecian called Hellenists, foreign born Jews, and even before becoming Christians had their own Synagogues. The event is explained at Acts Chapter six.

And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. (Acts 6:1-6)

Interestingly this is the only time this word “business” is mentioned in reference to the church in the New Testament. The word in this context means “necessity” or that which is their duty. So when this problem arose, the Apostles recognized it as a serious breach and it was their duty and necessary to the peace of the body to settle the matter of the Grecian widows being neglected in the daily distribution of food which they solved by having the congregation, which chose out seven Spirit filled men to take care of “this business.”

Now let us compare the early church to the present day church in America, that for benefits and privileges, has prostrated itself before the altar of government, and has put on the robe of a non-profit tax exempt “business corporation” and is operating as a legal entity under the Internal Revenue Code at 501 (c )(3) or if not incorporated at 508 (a) as an unincorporated association. As churches they are tax exempt, as members they receive tax deductions for their gifts, and the preachers receive special clergy tax benefits. However to receive these, the church must espouse Federal Public Policy, their head is the head of the non-profit division of the IRS, not Christ, and the pastor must be ordained by the IRS for these tax goodies, which are quite lucrative, especially compared to the average laymen in the pew, creating a clergy class of state-clergy as we had in the beginning of our nation before we had a First Amendment.

Now with nearly all of the churches and church denominations firmly under their control, the IRS as a tool of government and of course Satan, is being used to eliminate the churches of America altogether just as they are eliminating all businesses through the strangulation of regulation and red tape. An organization called Start Church, Inc. that is one of the most prolific organizations that aids churches in organizing and maintaining their non-profit status has recently sent their constituent churches a check list so that they can make sure that their business corporation is up to date. Here are their words, “This checklist contains 28 items that your church should consider before bringing in the New Year.” Following is the check list with a few irrelevant omissions.

Item #1: notify members of giving deadline

Notify members of giving deadline: Whether you publish it in a church bulletin, announce it from the pulpit, and/or publish it on the church website, you should remind your members to be aware of two things:

1. Any member wanting to make a large contribution, desiring to get tax-deductible credit for this tax year, must give it to the church on or before midnight of December 31st or mail it to the church so that it is postmarked on or beforeDecember 31st . Remind members that in order for their tithes and offerings to betax-deductible, they must have possession of the church’s giving statement.

2. Additionally, members must have (in their possession) a separate, written receipt for each individual contribution of $250 or more if they want those contributions to be tax-deductible. This brings us to item #2 on the checklist.

Item #2: know the $250 rule

Section 170(f) of the Internal Revenue Code requires that a written acknowledgmentbe given to the donor for any contribution in the amount of $250.00 or more.

Item #3: practicing printing year-end statements

Many software programs have complicated year-end statement printing processes.

Item #4: update W-4's

Have all employees review their W-4 forms. This is the form each employee must fillout before beginning employment at the church.

Item #5: gather bank statements

All of the church’s bank accounts need to be reconciled and gathered into one notebook. Many banks no longer send the actual cancelled checks with the bank statements.

Item #6: properly report love offerings

Love offerings and gifts given to the pastor by the church or sanctioned by it, must be counted and reported on the pastor’s W-2 form as taxable income. If there were any gifts given to volunteers, the same rules apply. Be sure that the recipient is alerted that he must report any gifts on his tax return. If the church’s gift to a volunteer reaches or exceeds $600.00 or more, the church must issue a 1099-MISCto the volunteer. One group that is far too often overlooked when it comes to this stipulation is guest speakers are subject to this rule in the same way as volunteers. Be sure to follow the instructions on the next checklist item for any individual who is issued a 1099-MISC.

Item #7: make a list of all contractors

Make a list of the independent contractors/service providers. If the church had any of the following people render services to the church, you must do two things: 1) each person must fill out a W-9 form and give it to the church and, 2) your church must give each contractor/service provider a 1099-MISC form stating how much he earned from the church if the amount of income received from the church was $600.00 or more for services or rent, and $10.00 if the person was paid royalties.

Below is a list of contractors for you to consider:

  1. A board member who, as an officer, gets any type of compensation of over $600.00
  2. Guest speakers
  3. Lawn service providers
  4. Pest control providers
  5. Landlord for rent collected
  6. Attorneys /doctors (even if the attorney/doctor is incorporated)
  7. Accountants
  8. Guest singer/musicians
  9. Hired cleaners
  10. Contractors
  11. Plumbers
  12. Carpet installers
  13. Piano repairmen
  14. Computer service providers
  15. Growth consultants
  16. Hired stewardship campaign advisors.

Item #8: prepare W-2 information

Each year churches pay their ministers, musicians, nursery workers, and other ministers for their services. Make sure that you have the exact names, addresses, and Social Security numbers of each employee and get ready to finalize the year-end totals for their W-2’s. The Affordable Care Act has changed some of the requirements for the way that W-2s are filled out. Employers must now report the cost of health care coverage under an employer sponsored group health plan.

Item #9: prepare fourth quarter 941 forms

By the end of December, your church will have all of the information it needs to prepare its 4th quarter Form 941 report. This is a quarterly federal tax return to be completed by employers, and the report is due by January 15th.

Item #10: prepare for your annual board meeting

Each church must have an annual board meeting in order to comply with the minimum state and federal requirements.

Item #11. Properly add new board members

Many churches list their board members in the state’s annual reports so that they show up online.

Item #13: sign conflict of interest (#11 & 12 were the same)

Make sure that each board member signs a conflict of interest statement. The potential for a conflict of interest arises when a person on the board of directors who is responsible for promoting the interests of the church has a reason to also promote a personal interest. Therefore, to comply with best non-profit practices, each board member should sign a conflict of interest statement each year.

Item #14: prepare Form 8282

If the church received any donated non-cash items valued at $5,000.00 or more and it disposed of them within three years, it is required to file Form 8282 with the IRS.

Item # 15:

File Form 1098-C for donation of car, boat or airplane Order IRS Form 1098-C. This is a special triplicate tax form that must be ordered and received by mail. This form is required if someone makes a donation of a car, boat, or airplane to the church.

Item #16: get compliant with section 4958

Become familiar with IRS section 4958. Board members may be held personally responsible for approving excess benefit transactions unless they can demonstrate their approval was “not willful and due to reasonable cause.” Below is an example.

The IRS has defined an intermediate sanction as a penalty being assessed against the pastor, board members or other related parties for infractions against section 4958, otherwise known as "excess benefit transactions”. The penalties for excess benefit transactions are at 10%, 25% or 200%. See the example below:

Pastor Tom goes on a salary of $20,000.00 a year and the board of directors does not put it in writing by creating a salary compensation agreement or by issuing to him a W 2 at the end of the year. Section 4958(a)(1) requires that an excise tax penalty be levied against the pastor personally in the amount of $5,000.00 and that each board member that partook in the transaction also be liable to pay a penalty of 10% jointly and severally. This means that each board member would have to pay a fine of $2,000.00. However, if the IRS performs an inquiry or an audit of the church's finances and the IRS discovers an excess benefit transaction, the fine will be 200% of the excess benefit transaction. Remember, it does not matter if the salary was fair or not, IRS Code requires that the salary be put in writing and a W-2 be issued (Reg. 53 4958).

Item #17: improve your chart of accounts

In any accounting system that you choose, establishing the chart of accounts is essential to the success of the system.

Item #18: review all reimbursements

Early December is the best time of year to review all reimbursements issued by the church to staff, volunteers, officers, and board members.

Item #19: create and update employee file

Create and/or maintain a file for each employee:

Item #20: calculate unrelated business income tax

Determine if the church owes unrelated business income tax. Under IRC section 512, if the church earns any income from unrelated business activities, then it must file Form 990-T to report such income. In short, the church must report any gross income of $1,000.00 or more earned from unrelated business activities. Such activities are: Sales from a bookstore that is open during non-worship service hours Rental income from a building that is debt financed Income from any activity that is not specifically associated with the tax-exempt purposes of the church.

Item #21: locate your 501(c)(3) approval letter

Many churches that have received official 501(c)(3) status lose track of their determination letter. This letter is evidence of your tax-exempt status and should be maintained at all times.

Item #22: review your church insurance policy

In preparation for the annual board meeting, now is the time to review your insurance policies.

Item #23: review your bank accounts

How much is your church paying for banking?

Item #25: review your health insurance payments

The Health Care Act gives a refundable tax credit of 25% of the cost of health care insurance that the church pays for its employees. In order for the church to qualify for the tax credit, it has to meet three requirements.

Item #26: consider a section 74 gift

The Internal Revenue Code provides that the church or ministry can give a gift to an employee, including the pastor, so long as it meets the requirements of a qualified employee achievement award set forth in section 74 and 274(j)(B).

Item #27: rebuild lost tithe records

It happens every year; churches of all sizes and backgrounds lose their tithe and offering records.

Item #28: prepare housing/parsonage allowance

The regulation of section 107 requires that a housing/parsonage allowance be set up in advance of any salary being paid to the minister. The housing allowance is one of the most beneficial tax benefits offered to ministers and should be taken advantage of as often as possible.

If the church is a legal entity that church is responsible to abide by these rules and regulations to the letter. According to IRS Publication Publication 1828 - Tax Guide for Churches and Other Tax-Exempt Organizations: Churches and religious organizations may be legally organized …under state law, including as un-incorporated associations, non-profit corporations, corporations sole and charitable trusts.” Corporations sole is the Catholic model and un-incorporated associations are churches that are not incorporated. These are legal entities that have waved their first Amendment guarantees and have to comply to the same rules and regulations that the corporate churches have to meet. The important thing to understand is that the New Testament church is not a legal organization but rather a lawful organism the body of Christ.

The true “business” of the church is spiritual not these carnal things. The Lord Jesus gave the church its commission at Matt. 28:18-20. It didn’t come close to including anything of this sort. This is for a business corporation not a New Testament assembly. Now if a church has fallen into the Devil’s trap and has become a legal entity then they are responsible to these corporate regulations. Compare this to Paul’s instruction to the church at Corinth, “If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. There is no way, the “least esteemed could serve on the official Board of Trustees of a church today. Some years ago, David Gibbs, Jr. then the head of Christian Law Association said that there is a different breed of Trustees out there, we now have college graduates and they are not going to allow pastors to just pastor churches as the pastors did in the past generations did. (Paraphrase) Even though churches were incorporated the older pastors operated as if they didn’t know what a corporation or Constitution or By Laws were. But now preachers are going to jail and board members are becoming personally responsible. This is a new day.

According to Start Church, “When it comes to legal compliance, the church has much ground to make up. According to our internal review, over 80% of churches in America would not do well in an audit. In other words, more than 80% of churches have business practices that fail to ensure the churches' financial information is being reported correctly and in accordance with tax laws. Moreover, our research indicates that many churches are losing their assets in lawsuits simply because their legal structure is out of date.”

Also Start Church declares, Churches have not stayed up with the new laws pertaining to non-profits. For instance, “Most churches are not aware that the housing allowance has been rewritten by congress. Under the new rules, most churches are no longer doing it right. This can be costly to ministers across America!”

The Devil is smart, the preachers and church leaders are dumb. Like the three little pigs who said, “Who’s afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?” They thought they could get in bed with the state and take the Old Whore’s benefits without consequences. Well they forgot that “COME SHEKELS-COME SHACKLES!

There is only one remedy, the Lord Jesus said, “Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
